The Summer Concert
Generally, the 30th of June in Baker Park marks the start of the summer concert. On Sunday evenings, you can enjoy free music all throughout August. You can bring a picnic and listen to rock n roll, country, raggae, and even Jazz! If you're feeling up to it, there is a dancing area in front of the stage, so you can group dance with other's who enjoy the same music as you!
Summerfest Family Theatre
Every week, on Thursday mornings throughout the summer, you can enjoy quality entertainment with your family starting at 10 am. The theatre generally opens on the 27th of June and runs through the end of August. Music, general children's stories, clowns, and much more can be watched!
Frederick's Fourth
Of all the events that occur in Baker Park, the fourth of July Independence Day celebration has to be one of the largest. Fireworks are shot off for close to an hour in the evening, and families can enjoy entertainment that travels from around the country to perform at Baker Park. From various foods to rides that are set up for the event, you're guaranteed to have a great time with your family!
Baker Park Pool
Inside Baker Park there is pool that opens starting Memorial Day, and closes on Labor day. If you're looking for a pool that a little less crowded, the Edward P. Thomas Jr Memorial swimming pool is open from 12-8 pm daily.
Paws and Claws Walk
Who doesn't love dogs? Baker park has an annual walk that is sponsored by the Animal Welfare League of Frederick. It's a great time to meet other dog lovers, and have your dogs socialize in a safe, and family friendly environment.
In addition, if you want your dogs to have a larger open space to freely socialize, there is a dog park across the street from Baker Park which is open until dusk.
Recreation in Baker's Park
The 44+ acre park in Downtown Frederick also includes tennis courts, fields for both baseball and softball, a band shell, and many playgrounds for children. Due to the sheer amount of outdoor events available, these spaces are always occupied, which makes it a great opportunity to meet other locals of Frederick, and also a great place to live.
